SEA LIFE Kansas City Aquarium is continuing

their love for turtles this year by opening a Turtle Shelter Exhibit .  This attraction opened in may and comes a few months after they received Missouri’s first Green Sea Turtle in February.

The Turtle Shelter Exhibit will house many weird and wondrous species of freshwater

turtles, such as the Snake Neck Turtle, New Guinea Snapping Turtle, Spiny Softshell

Turtle, including many others. Turtle Shelter will teach children about these marvelous

creatures and their 200 million year history.

The Turtle Shelter Exhibit will be housed inside SEA LIFE Kansas City Aquarium for

the next year. This new exhibit area will provide the opportunity for guests to see a new

exhibit each year.

General Admission is $19 for ages 13 and older, $15 for ages 3-12 and 2 and under are free. It is recommended to purchase tickets online in advance to receive a discount and priority entry into the attraction.

Help with Portion Control March 27, 2013

Losing weight is simple.  More calories out, fewer calories in.  Sounds easy enough, but what if you are overeating and don’t know it?  Seems a lot of people have trouble with portions and if you don’t know the correct portions, chances are you are teaching your children the wrong portions.  I am trying to lose weight, but also make a lifestyle change.  I have not gone on any crash diets or systems, I am just wanting to eat everything I love, but in the right portions .

For the past couple of weeks, I have had this on my kitchen counter…and it is so helpful!

lifesizeportions

What is it?  Life size Portion Control System.  Each measuring tools has a marked letter for the amount of each type of food you are supposed to have.  For example, the large round cup marked with a “C” is for carbs.  There are tools to measure everything you are eating and it has a guide to tell you what foods go with them.  They measure dairy, topping, goodies, meats, saucy dishes, baked good, carbs and even liquids!   It is so much easier than a food scale.  Yes, a scale helps you measure the amount, but a scale won’t tell you the amount of each you are supposed to eat.

The system includes a chart, DVD guides and a 30 day, money back guarantee.  If you are wanting to learn to eat the correct  portions or teach your children the correct portions, this is a fun way to do it.  The snacks I give my children the past couple of weeks, have been measured out with the measuring cups.  They think it’s fun and I know they are not overeating anything.
